A fungus can be defined as a “primitive organism.” The intake of fungal spores when we breathe can lead us to develop fungal infections which range from those of the skin, hair, and nails. In this article, we will be examining the causes, symptoms, and treatment of facial fungal infections.
Causes
- A person touching or coming in direct contact with the infected area of another person.
- Touching a garment or any other material to your face that had been used or came in contact with the infected area of another person.
- Inhaling the fungal spores that are present in the air around us.
- Also, people who don’t maintain a healthy hygiene are more prone to developing a facial fungal infection.
Symptoms
- Rough discoloration of the affected area.
- If prolonged, the infected area becomes red, and the occurrence of a bacterial infection can make the condition severe.
- Boils start to develop, some of them containing pus.
Treatment
Healthy Hygiene
By maintaining a good balance between your food intake (nutrition) and your personal hygiene, one can maintain yeast levels in the body and also prevent dirt or fungal spores from settling onto your skin. Also, diabetic patients should especially keep their sugar levels maintained in order to avoid the development of higher yeast levels which causes facial fungal infections.
Proper Medication
Topical medicines like creams, which include clotrimazole and such are readily available in the market and using these particular creams two times a day for at least two weeks can result in facial fungal infections being reduced. Also, oral medication, like fluconazole, can lead to the rash or fungus completely disappearing
Yogurt
Apply yogurt to the fungal area and let it stay for 30 minutes, and then you can rinse it off. The probiotics present in yogurt help treat the infected area.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Rich in antimicrobial properties, drinking it twice by mixing two tablespoons with a cup of warm water can rid overgrown fungus.
Oils
Tea tree and coconut oil should be rubbed on the infected area and left to dry as they are also known as effective remedies against facial fungal infections.
Garlic
Garlic is rich in antibiotic properties hence making them an effective cure for facial fungal infections. Rubbing either of them onto the infected area soothes down the rash and eventually eliminates the fungus.
